  1. The material in Ch.5, Teaching Students with Learning Disabilities, helps me a lot with this unit. For one, this unit helps me know all the different learning disabilities but also the characteristics of them. Also if I was going to be a teacher, it could help know how to make changes in lessons and provide more or different support for each student with each of these different learning disabilities.

However, since I’m not going to be a teacher I wanted to think of the ways that this chapter could help me as a school counselor. I looked at this chapter as sort of an educational DSM. For those who do not know what that is, it’s the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders which has the classifications and more for each mental disorder. However, I think it will be good to know and useful because as a counselor I might have to assist in providing help to these students if the teachers or teachers aid can’t handle it, or need extra help.

  2. Material in chapter 5 can be very helpful. I think the table on characteristics and implication or learning abilities could help many of teachers. It can teach them what the learning disabilities are and how the teacher can accommodated to them. Lesson plans can sometimes be hard to make so this chapter allows more detail on the learning disabilities. This chapter will help me with ideas to help achieve students learning disabilities and make each lesson interesting to them.

    2. I really like the table too! I think it can help future educators all the characteristics and implications, but also is a good tool to refer back to, no matter how long one has known the material. I also like how passionate you are about making lessons interesting.... just like how we are so passionate about our baseball teams.. Go RoYaLs!

  3. Exactly what Kaitlyn and Solomon said, the chapter is extremely helpful because of the information it provided to help identify learning disabilities, and what we can do to accommodate for them. I was just having a chat with my couch surfing host about this yesterday. I was telling him about how America's IDEA act and our LRE policy and how one of the toughest parts of being a teacher is the fact that classrooms are so extremely diverse and we have to find a way to provide adequate education for everyone. I think chapter 5 touched base with that.

    1. I found your point about the IDEA and the LRE being the toughest parts of being a teacher interesting. We as college students come from diverse back grounds and on our campus it shows how diverse we are so to think about it personally, and how teachers really do "have to find a way to provide adequate education for everyone" is amazing! Good point, I never thought of it like that!

    2. I agree with Kimber and Kaitlyn comment about Westminster and how we are so diverse so teachers have to find a way to provide adequate education for everyone.
